Emergency Services

Emergencies can happen at any time. During our regular office hours, we will do our best to manage emergency cases as well as urgent need cases. Please ALWAYS call ahead to 423-926-6091 to inform the staff of your emergency. The staff will discuss the emergency with one of the veterinarians. We do have some built- in time spots for urgent needs-but-oftentimes-these appointment spots fill up quickly. When we have no additional appointment spaces, we charge an additional fee for emergencies as well as urgent need appointments. This can allow the receptionist extra time to re-arrange already scheduled appointments as well as provide opportunity to prepare for the emergency presentation.

The veterinarian will determine the status of each case and categorize it as an emergency or urgent need. Common emergencies include:

Once you arrive, the doctors and staff can be ready to stabilize a patient. Your pet may be taken to our treatment to the area to begin receiving treatment while you may be asked to complete any paperwork at the front desk. Pets in critical condition will be seen before pets that are stable. The veterinarian, or potentially one of the veterinary assistants, will discuss treatment recommendations and provide an estimate. Pets that need to be hospitalized will require a deposit of 50% of the estimate. The balance will be due when the patient is discharged. For patients not requiring hospitalization, full payment is due.

Emergency situations cause much distress to the owner as well as to the patient. We will accommodate emergency cases during regular office hours as listed. We encourage our clients to have our phone number as well as that of the emergency clinic and animal poison control center on hand. We can provide these numbers for you. Prevention is a great way to reduce many common emergencies, Also, being seen during regular office visits before they become an emergency.
